Information Governance Committee

The Information Governance Committee has the responsibility to provide evidence based and timely advice to the Board to assist it in discharging its functions and meeting its responsibilities with regard to the quality and integrity, safety and security; and appropriate access and use of information (including patient and personal information) to support its provision of high quality health care.  The Committee also has the role of providing assurance to the Board in relation to the Health Board’s arrangements for creating, collecting, storing, safeguarding, disseminating, sharing, using and disposing of information in accordance with its stated objectives, legislative responsibilities, e.g., the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act; and any relevant requirements and standards determined for the NHS in Wales.  The Committee also keeps under review the risks of the Health Board as they relate to information governance matters.
