The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s Trauma and Orthopaedic department provide services to approximately 600,000 people who reside within Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and South Powys.
Patients with traumatic injuries can be treated at Accident and Emergency departments in Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny and the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. Minor injuries can also be treated at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan (Ebbw Vale) and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr (Ystrad Mynach).
Our team treat patients with problems of the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and joints. We treat sudden problems, such as those suffered in an incident (Trauma) and also those which arise and develop over time.
Surgery is performed at four sites across the health board; Nevill Hall Hospital, Royal Gwent Hospital, St Woolos Hospital (Newport), and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr. Outpatient clinics are run from the aforementioned sites as well as at Chepstow Hospital, County Hospital (Pontypool) and Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan.
Upon referral to the Trauma and Orthopaedic department you will be contacted by the booking teams either by telephone or letter.
Once you have received your letter, our teams are able to answer queries about your referral, appointments or clinical treatment via telephone or email.
