Still Births and Pregnancy Loss

We are so sorry that you find yourself here. As a newly bereaved parent, we know that you will be facing lots of difficult conversations and decisions at this traumatic time.

Baby loss is a global issue, and at whatever stage of pregnancy, birth or infancy you have lost a child, we want you to know that we have tailored services at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board maternity services to support you. We can provide up to date information on resources available to you as well as access to further support.

In this section you can see useful information relating to making a decision about a post mortem. We hope that this short video on the Sands Lothian website will help you in making your decision, about whether to have a post mortem for your baby. The film was created from the experiences of other bereaved parents and we hope that knowing others have faced the same decision, will help you feel less alone at this painful time and give you some comfort.  We have specialist midwifery teams available and want to reassure you of sensitive and compassionate care.

We have created two remembrance gardens (one at the Royal Gwent Hospital and one at Nevill Hall Hospital) where people are welcome any time to use this space for quiet time to remember your baby, whether your child was born last week or 60 years ago.
