From 30 Cigarettes a Day to 200 parkruns: Richard's Inspiring Journey to Health, Hope and Community

Richard Wheeler, an OT Tech from the Upper Monmouthshire Community Mental Health Team, started his parkrun journey six years ago when he saw a TV programme. At the time, he was nearly 14 stone, smoking 30 cigarettes a day, and feeling sluggish.

For most children, chickenpox is a mild illness that gets better on its own, but for some, it can be very serious. The risk of serious illness from chickenpox is much higher than people used to think. Some people may need to be treated in hospital if they get problems from the infection.

Mask Wearing and Visiting Restrictions Reintroduced Across Our Hospitals

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has reintroduced mask wearing and tightened visiting rules across its hospital sites following a sharp rise in winter illnesses and infection rates.

Back in October 2025, due to increasing levels of illness in our hospitals we needed to introduce mask wearing and visiting restrictions. We then stepped down these restrictions when illness levels decreased, but now another rise in infections means we need to reintroduce measures to keep people safe.
