Today we celebrate our Patron Saint of Wales, St David, who famously said “do the little things”.

This week in Newport, artists showcased a range of artwork celebrating the contributions made by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic People in healthcare across Gwent. 

The pan-Wales Health Disability Activity Pathway Team have won an award in the category of “Improving Health and Wellbeing” at the NHS Wales Awards! 

The team were presented with the award by Judith Paget, Director General for Health and Social Services and Chief Executive of NHS Wales.

From 31^st March 2024, you will receive text message appointments and reminders from Healthcare Communications. You will continue to receive mail by post and in the future will have the option to receive mail digitally.

It’s Children's Mental Health Week, and we want parents and families to know how to start a conversation about mental health with their children and how to support them.

Isabel Dockings, 17 from Newport, was diagnosed at The Grange University Hospital with Metastatic Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer that had spread at the top of her thigh. She now marks a year since her diagnosis on the 6th February 2023 and 3 months cancer free.

Today, on Monday 5^th February 2024, the brand-new Breast Care Unit at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr has welcomed Gwent patients for the very first time.

Patients are often fasted for excessive periods prior to surgery, and this results in them feeling uncomfortable, anxious and having worse outcomes. Evidence shows that small volumes of water are beneficial and rapidly emptied from the stomach.

Drinking water before theatre means less headaches and less chance of nausea post operatively. Drinking water will make you feel better before AND after surgery.
