09/15/2020 Intensive Care Unit at The Grange University Hospital to Become First in Wales to Use New NHS Wales £13 Million Technology Investment

Hospitals in Wales are to benefit from a new high-tech digital-monitoring system for seriously ill people in Intensive Care Units. 

The new Grange University Hospital in Llanfrechfa, which is scheduled for early opening in November 2020, will be the first to adopt the new system in summer 2021. Planned roll out will then follow to all NHS Wales Intensive Care Units.

In the last week, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has seen a significant rise in positive COVID-19 cases within the community, investigations have indicated that a lack of social distancing in all age groups, in a range of different locations, has contributed to the spread of the virus.

09/11/2020 The 'Woodshed' Receive Shipping Container Donated by Laing O'Rourke

On Thursday 10th September, Laing O’Rourke, the main contractors for The Grange University Hospital, donated a shipping container to the 'Woodshed', based at St. Cadoc’s Hospital.

The Woodshed is a Mental Health Woodwork Therapy project for Mental Health patients at the hospital.

07/30/2020 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Changes to isolation period for Covid-19 - Updated 30 July 2020

From 30 July, people who have tested positive for coronavirus will have to self-isolate for 10 days instead of 7 days. The 10 day period starts from the day symptoms start, or if asymptomatic from the day a test is taken.  As before a test should be arranged within 5 days of symptoms starting. This will also apply to health and social care workers.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has established a new service to help COVID-19 patients who had been ventilated in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Respiratory High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The Royal Gwent Hospital’s Respiratory Team set up this unique collaborative Rehabilitation Programme to support and aid the recovery of formerly ventilated COVID-19 patients post discharge.
