Today is National Supported Internship Day, a day to celebrate the incredible achievements of the nine learners currently completing a Supported Internship within the Facilities Team at Nevill Hall Hospital. Delivered in partnership with Coleg Gwent, the programme gives young people the opportunity to gain meaningful workplace experience, develop essential skills, and grow in confidence as they work towards sustainable, long‑term employment.
Supported Internships offer far more than just a work placement - they create a structured, nurturing environment that helps learners understand the workplace, discover their strengths, and build the independence needed to succeed.
At Nevill Hall, our interns play a valuable role within the team, contributing to the smooth running of the hospital and making a positive difference to patients, staff, and visitors every day. Sophie Davies, Lead Tutor for the Supported Internships, describes Nevill Hall as the ideal setting for the programme; “Everybodys just so welcoming. They’ll communicate with our learners and help us help them. Seeing the difference in the learners from when they start their internships to now is incredible. And that’s because of the support from the staff.”
