Wards across our hospitals have been getting involved with some themed activities over the course of the 2024 Olympic Games!
Ward A0 at The Grange University Hospital supported Nutrition and Hydration week by offering Olympic themed refreshments and snacks to patients. Drinks were offered in the colours of the Olympic logo so patients felt hydrated and also had some fun along the way.
The patients and staff also participated in javelin (using paper aeroplanes) and volleyball (using balloons) to help them stay active whilst in hospital to prevent muscle deconditioning.
Patients on Ward C7 East at the Royal Gwent Hospital have also been getting into the Olympic spirit by taking part in themed activities in the day room over the past few weeks.
To mark the opening ceremony, they made their own Olympic torches in an Arts and Crafts session and supported Team GB.
Since then, they've been taking part in various ‘Olympic events’ with each other, including football, weight lifting, and ring toss.
These activities have been a great opportunity for them to get up, get dressed, get moving, and have fun!
