Come join us at parkrun Spotlight event: Shining a light on Neurological Conditions

We’re pleased to partner with the Stroke Association to host a parkrun on Saturday 26th September @8.30 am at the wonderful Tredegar House.

Tredegar House are offering a neuro-friendly space for this fantastic, free event. With a growing community of people living with chronic neurological conditions, we support you to be as active as possible within the limits of your conditions, in a welcoming, inclusive and supportive space.

Whether you’re a regular park-runner, thinking about taking part for the first time, or want to come along to show your support, anyone is welcome. You can go at your own pace, meet new people and have a lovely day out!

Meet Laura, who survived a catastrophic stroke and went from being uncertain about whether she would walk again to completing a 5k walk with parkrun.

Laura said: "Parkrun has helped me so much with my recovery after my stroke. It has helped improve my strength, fitness and confidence and it has also been wonderful to meet up with other people like me who have had a stroke and are trying to rebuild themselves.

We support each other and everyone works at the level that suits them- our families and friends also come along to join in and support us! Don't get me wrong, I can be exhausted for days after the walk, but being out in nature and socialising with other people really helps with my mental health, and I don't feel so alone."

The Stroke Association will provide information on how community-based activities can support stroke survivors in remaining active, independent and engaged following diagnosis, treatment or rehabilitation.
