Eating Disorder Week 24th February - 2nd March 2025

Monday 24th February 2025

Did you know that many eating disorders are not the typical bulimia and anorexia?

It’s Eating Disorder Week and we want to raise awareness on how many patients slip through the net because they weren’t seen as having an eating disorder, as many of us believe we know what to look for when it comes to someone struggling with an eating disorder.

  • Male

  • Normal weight

  • Overweight

  • Over a certain age

But these groups of people can still have an eating disorder, and as the theme for this year’s campaign says, ‘Anyone can have an eating disorder’, we want to help you look out for the typical signs to detect someone that may have an eating disorder:

  • Preoccupation with body shape and weight

  • Rules and rituals around food and mealtimes

  • Become more secretive, withdrawn and isolated

  • Eating large amounts of food in an uncontrolled way

  • Restriction of food and certain food groups

Take a look at our new Specialist Eating Disorder pages for further information.
