Eligible Young People Urged to Take Up New MenB Vaccination Offer Across Gwent

In June, the Welsh Government announced a time-limited vaccination offer for eligible persons to receive the Meningococcal Group B (MenB) vaccine. The rollout of the vaccine will begin on 20th July 2026 and will be delivered across Gwent by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
Meningococcal group B (MenB) disease is a rare but serious bacterial infection that can lead to meningitis and sepsis. It can develop rapidly and have devastating consequences.
Young people are at greater risk when they move into shared accommodation and begin mixing with new social groups. That's why eligible young people are being offered the MenB vaccine as part of a targeted vaccination programme.
The vaccine provides important protection and can help reduce your risk of developing serious illness.
Who is eligible?
The vaccine is available for everyone aged 17-18 years old, if they were born between 01/09/2007 and 31/08/2008, this cohort will receive an invite directly from the Health Board by letter and text to receive their vaccine. If you haven’t received your invite by 31st July 2026, please contact the booking centre on 0300 303 1373.
The vaccine is also available to those under 25 years, attending higher education/residential further education for the first time. If you fall in this category you will need to book an appointment to receive your vaccine by contacting the booking centre on 0300 303 1373 or complete the self-referral form: MenB Vaccination Offer.
