The South 2 District Nursing Team has received an extraordinary act of kindness and generosity from Dawn, whose mum was cared for by the team last year.
Following the palliative care provided to her mother, Dawn has been determined to give something back in recognition of the support her family received. Her fundraising journey has been both inspiring and deeply personal.
At her mum’s funeral, Dawn kindly asked for donations to South 2 District Nurses, raising a remarkable £750. Wanting to do even more, she then set herself an incredible challenge: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - completely alone and entirely self‑funded.
Stepping far outside her comfort zone, Dawn completed the climb and set up a GoFundMe page to support her efforts. Friends, family, and supporters rallied behind her, helping her achieve an outstanding fundraising total.
To date, Dawn has raised £3,885 for the South 2 District Nursing Team.
The team shared their gratitude, saying:
“We are overwhelmed by Dawn’s thoughtfulness and kindness, especially during such a difficult time in her life. Her courage, resilience, and generosity have left us truly humbled. We are incredibly proud of her achievement and extremely grateful for her support.”
Dawn’s efforts will directly benefit district nursing services, helping support patients and families across the community.
On behalf of all of us in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, a heartfelt thank you to Dawn for her remarkable dedication and compassion.
