Today, on Tuesday 24th February 2026, we’re proud to officially launch the new Values and Behaviours for our organisation, which shape how we work and how we care for each other, our patients and our communities.
Our values help us build a culture of kindness, integrity and respect - for each other and those we serve. Together, we do what’s right for our patients, our colleagues, and our communities.
Kindness - Kindness is at the heart of how we care for our patients, each other and ourselves. It means showing empathy and compassion and placing the needs and experiences of ourselves and others, at the heart of all we do.
Integrity - We act with honesty, fairness, and transparency - doing the right thing, taking responsibility, and earning the trust of others. We hold ourselves and each other accountable for our actions and decisions.
Respect - We treat everyone with dignity and fairness, celebrating diversity and creating a culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Sarah Simmonds, Executive Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, said:
"Our organisational values had not been updated for some years. We recognise that we must adapt, develop and grow in line with our evolving environment, population and context and felt that the development of our long term strategy 'Gwent 2035' presented an ideal opportunity to review what is important to us. Our values shape how we care and how we work. They help us all build a culture of kindness, integrity and respect - for each other and those we serve.
"I want to thank all colleagues who shared their feedback, insights, and ideas during the development phases. Your voices have helped ensure that these commitments are what truly matters to people.
"Look out for engagement events coming soon to share our Values and Behaviours Framework.”
