Introduction of Symptom Management Service

Following a period of transformation of the post-covid Adferiad service, we have now introduced the Symptom Management Service to our Health Board.

This is an all-age service for adults, children, and young people, which provides support to people living with Long Covid, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and other Post Viral illnesses.

Children and young people are able to access the service following referral by primary care clinicians and triage by paediatric teams within secondary care services. Adults can access support without needing a referral from a GP or an individual assessment. The service offers several educational sessions about the specific conditions and management advice sessions about symptoms shared across the conditions. These sessions are offered virtually or in community venues, along with recorded versions that you can watch or listen to in your own time.
