“In the nicest possible way, I hope I never have to see you again.”
We were honoured to welcome Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent, back to the Grange University Hospital recently.
Brigadier Aitken visited members of our Emergency Department Team and the Stroke Ward (B4) to personally thank the staff who cared for him following his own stroke in late 2025. He also made a generous donation to both teams through our charitable funds.
During the visit, he shared his heartfelt appreciation with the colleagues who supported him at such a critical moment, saying: “Thank you so much for your excellent care. In the nicest possible way, I hope I never have to see you again.”
It was a meaningful reunion for everyone involved, and we are incredibly proud of the exceptional, compassionate care our teams provide every day.
Thank you, Brigadier Aitken, for your kindness, generosity, and continued support.
