We want to empower people with everything they need in 2025 to live well. With lots of people naturally looking to make changes this January we wanted to amplify people’s stories to show their goals and their journey to achieving them.
Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing updates from people who wanted to share their journeys to help inspire others. Find our first story below from one of our staff members, Sian.
Name: Sian Yeoman
Position: Patient/Nurse Co-ordinator for Bargoed District Nurses
My Goal: To lose weight and improve my mental health
About Me:
“Hi, my name is Sian Yeoman, most of my life I have been a size 8/10 but when I had my child at 35, I put on weight and now average between size 20/22 and so miserable with myself. I am now 63 and I have osteoarthritis in my knees, hips and now my shoulders are beginning to join in the fun.
I need to lose weight, for my mental health and for my health. I hate going into shops to try clothes on, I get very hot and frustrated and therefore, clothes become hard to put on as I’m in a bit of a lather and sweaty (sorry). I order from online shops, therefore, don’t feel rushed or embarrassed if the clothes don’t fit or look really bad on me
I know by being so open and honest I want to help others who might be feeling like I am, I feel there are a lot of us who feel like this and nothing worse than clothes shopping now as far as I am concerned.
I want 2025 to be the year I make positive changes and put my health first, I want to eat better, move more and just generally feel better. I will be providing updates on my progress and hope you can join in my journey with me, whatever your goals might be.”
I am delighted to say I’ve already lost 6lbs this month and am going to do everything I can to continue with my efforts, I’m walking to and from work now and staying strong and avoiding all my usual sugary treats.
