Minister Visits Women's Health Services in Gwent

Nevill Hall Hospital welcomed Sarah Murphy MS, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing yesterday (Thursday 12th February), where she gained an insight into the Health Board’s work to improve women’s health services in Gwent.

Beginning the visit by meeting with Health Board women’s health experts, the Minister heard about the improvements that have been made to women’s health services across the Health Board area, including areas such as contraception, endometriosis and menopause services.

She then received a tour of the Women’s Ambulatory Care Unit at Nevill Hall Hospital, which offers minor procedures or treatments without the need for a general anaesthetic or admission to hospital. During the visit, the Minister witnessed first-hand the impact of this fantastic unit, meeting with hard-working staff and grateful patients who have undergone treatment.

Tracy Daszkiewicz, Executive Director of Public Health for the Health Board, said:

“It was a pleasure to be able to showcase the work happening across women’s health services across Gwent and to demonstrate our exciting plans to expand these services in the near future. Women’s Health is a real priority for us as a Health Board and we’re thankful to Welsh Government for their investment, which will allow us to enhance these services.”

Sarah Murphy MS, Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, said:

"Women's health hubs are all about improving access to care. The work being done at the hub here at Nevill Hall Hospital and across the health board area demonstrates how we can improve health outcomes for women and bring care closer to home.

“It was great to be here to hear first-hand the difference these menstrual health, contraception and early menopause management services are making to women's lives."
