Organ Donation Week 2025

Throughout the week, members of the Health Board’s organ donation team have been raising awareness across our hospital sites about the importance of organ donation and the incredible impact it can have on people’s lives.

Jamie’s Story

Ten years ago, Jamie’s life changed forever - thanks to the incredible gift of organ donation. In August 2015, he received a cornea transplant that transformed his vision and his future.

Prior to the transplant, Jamie relied solely on his left eye and a rigid contact lens to manage his vision.

He shared: “It could be quite distressing and worrying if something was to happen to the left eye and leave my vision very poor. I would struggle with day-to-day tasks, driving would be out of the question.”

Now, a decade on, Jamie is encouraging others to talk about organ donation: “Who knows what decision they'll come to, but at least some thought has gone into it. That discussion could be the most important one in someone else's life.”

Talk about organ donation. It could change or save a life.
