Reintroduction of Mask Wearing

Tuesday 7th October 2025

Due to an increase in winter illnesses across our sites, all staff, visitors and patients are required to wear fluid repellent face masks when entering our hospital sites, wards, Emergency Department and all clinical settings, including our Minor Injury Units (MIUs). This is effective immediately.

Masks will be available at the entrances to wards and clinical areas.

Please also note that, due to high levels of winter illnesses circulating in our communities and hospitals, we ask that people limit attendance with patients attending the hospital wherever possible.

We will now be introducing ‘visiting with a purpose’ to wards or bays closed due to outbreaks

We will ensure that visiting is supported for:

  • Visiting someone who is critically ill or at the end of life
  • Supporting a patient who needs assistance of any sort
  • Attending to a carer's role
  • Being present for significant discussions about care, treatment or discharge

Wearing a mask and practising good hand hygiene will help us protect our vulnerable patients and reduce the risk of transmission.

We urge everyone to help us keep our communities safe this winter by:

😷 Wearing a mask when attending any of our sites
🧼 Washing your hands regularly
💉 Getting your Flu and Covid-19 booster if you are eligible

Let’s work together to keep our communities safe this winter.
