Update on Visiting our Hospital Sites

Thursday 22nd January 2026

We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.

Royal Gwent Hospital
Thanks to the efforts of patients, visitors and staff, we are seeing signs of improvement.
Visiting with a purpose has now stepped down and normal visiting can resume, although we ask visitors to remain cautious and follow the advice below.

Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr (YYF) 01443 802353
Due to a significant increase in Norovirus cases, visiting with a purpose is now in place across the hospital. Please contact the ward before visiting. Visitors who arrive without prior contact may be turned away.

Visiting with a purpose includes essential wellbeing support, delivering personal items and end‑of‑life care. If you are unsure whether your visit is appropriate, please speak to the ward team.

All other Health Board sites operating as normal
Please continue to:

  • Do not visit if you have had sickness or diarrhoea, a cough, or cold or flu‑like symptoms and please wait at least 48 hours after symptoms have fully resolved before visiting.
  • Wash hands regularly
  • Wear a mask at all times
  • Limit visitor numbers where possible

All appointments are continuing as normal, unless you are contacted directly to rearrange.

Thank you for helping to keep our patients, visitors and staff safe. If you have an urgent question, please send us a direct message.
