“We’re wearing pyjamas so you don’t have to!”
Last week, staff at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr were raising awareness of muscle deconditioning by encouraging patients to get dressed and take part in activities – all whilst wearing pyjamas themselves!
Patients enjoyed spending time away from their hospital beds, with Oakdale ward taking part in themed activities specifically tailored to their stroke rehabilitation needs, and patients on Risca Ward earning prizes for the best dressed.
Preventing deconditioning in hospital is crucial to a patient’s recovery and helps avoid any delays to their return home. We can all play a part in encouraging patients to get up, get dressed and keep moving as much as possible while in hospital.
