Covid-19 Boosters

COVID-19 Spring Booster Vaccination

The Spring COVID-19 Spring Booster Programme will begin on 1st April 2025 and run until 30th June 2025.

The primary aim of the national COVID-19 vaccination programme remains the prevention of severe illness (hospitalisations and deaths) arising from COVID-19. As currently available COVID-19 vaccines provide limited protection against mild and asymptomatic disease, the focus of the programme is on offering vaccination to those most likely to directly benefit from vaccination, particularly those with underlying health conditions that increase their risk of hospitalisation following infection.

Further information

More information on COVID-19 vaccines can be found on the COVID-19 vaccination information - Public Health Wales website.

Vaccine information in accessible formats can also be found on the Immunisation and Vaccines - Public Health Wales website.

Who is eligible?

For Spring 2025, JCVI advises that a COVID-19 vaccine should be offered to:

• people aged 75 and older;

• residents in care homes for older people; and

• anyone aged six months and over who has a weakened immune system

How will I be invited?

Just like in previous years, we will be starting our Spring Booster vaccinations in care homes across Gwent. We will then invite all other eligible patients to receive their vaccination at either their GP Practice, Local Pharmacy, or nearest community vaccination clinic.

Appointment letters will be sent to all eligible patients. If you have a mobile number registered on our system an appointment and reminder will be text to you.
