ESR, Optima (HealthRoster), LOOP, BankStaff and Employee Well-being

 

Electronic Staff Record (ESR)

ESR is the national workforce system used across NHS Wales for HR, payroll, learning management, and workforce data. It allows staff to manage personal information, access payslips, complete training, and supports workforce reporting and planning.

Who can use it:

  • All ABUHB employees with Employee Self Service access
  • Managers, supervisors and administrators with Manager/Supervisor Self Service and additional access levels

Additional Information:

  • My ESR app is available via app stores such as Apple App Store / Google Play and is free to download

Allocate Optima (formerly HealthRoster)

Allocate Optima is the Health Board’s E-Rostering and workforce management system. It supports staff rostering, absence management, workforce planning, time and attendance, and payroll integration to ensure effective service delivery and safe staffing levels.

Who can use it:

  • Managers and administrators

LOOP

LOOP is a mobile and web-based application that enables staff to request shifts, annual leave, and days off, and allows bank staff to record availability and book shifts directly into the roster system.

Who can use it:

  • All rostered staff
  • Bank employees

Additional Information

  • LOOP app is available via app stores such as Apple App Store / Google Play and is free to download

BankStaff

BankStaff is a system used to arrange and manage bank shifts in departments not currently using Allocate Optima. It supports temporary staffing and shift allocation.

Who can use it:

  • Department managers and administrators
