The Covid Day of Reflection takes place on 8th March this year. It is an ‘opportunity for us to come together over the following week to remember all those who have lost their lives since the pandemic began, and to honour the tireless work, compassion and acts of kindness shown throughout that unprecedented time.’
There are two ways you can take part in marking this moment and remembering all who were affected by the Covid pandemic.
From 6th March, white remembrance trees will be placed in the Sanctuaries of our main hospitals. You are invited to write a memory or a name on a blue heart and hang it gently on the tree. Bowls of hearts will also be available in several of our smaller units. Chaplains will collect these and place them on the trees on your behalf.
The Chaplaincy and Grace Bereavement Team will be holding a short service of remembrance on Thursday 12th March at 2:00pm in the Sanctuaries at the Royal Gwent, Grange, Nevill Hall and Ystrad Fawr hospitals. The service will last around 20 minutes and will include moments of silence, the lighting of candles, and the opportunity to place a heart on the remembrance trees.
We hope these simple acts of reflection will hold meaning for each of us, helping us remember those affected often, and to remember them well.
