Meningococcal B (MenB) Vaccination Programme

In June, Welsh Government announced a time-limited MenB vaccination programme for eligible individuals. This page provides information on eligibility and how and when you can receive your MenB vaccine within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area.

General Information

  • ALL 17-18 year olds will be invited to an appointment
  • Individuals born on/after 21/07/2001 (turning 25 after 21/07/2026) and attending Higher Education/Further Education for the first time are also eligible to receive a vaccine
  • The programme will start on 20th July 2026
  • Two doses will be required to be fully protected against MenB 
  • When you attend your vaccine appointment, you may be offered other vaccines that you may have missed when you were younger


I am 17-18 Years Old (cohort 1)

  • If you are aged 17-18 (born between 01/09/2007 and 31/08/2008) you can expect to receive an invite letter before 24th July 2026.
  • If we hold a mobile number you will also receive a reminder text message 24 hours prior to your appointment.
  • An appointment for your second dose will be given at your first appointment. It is important that you attend your second appointment to ensure you are fully protected. 
  • If you haven't received your invite letter or text by 24th July 2026, please contact the booking centre on 0300 303 1373.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact the vaccination booking centre as soon as possible to rearrange by phoning 0300 303 1373 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday or by emailing: abb.vsbc@wales.nhs.uk.

At your appointment you will be asked to take a photograph of your vaccination card as a record of your first dose. Please note you will be asked to bring ID with you to your appointment. 


I am under 25 attending Higher Education/Residential Further Education for the first time (cohort 2)

  • Individuals born on/after 21/07/2001 (turning 25 after 21/07/2026)
  • Please complete the following form to self-refer for a MenB vaccination appointment: The form will be made available in the next few days
  • If we hold a mobile number you will also receive a reminder text message 24 hours prior to your appointment.
  • An appointment for your second dose will be given at your first appointment. It is important that you attend your second appointment to ensure you are fully protected. 
  • Alternatively, you can phone our booking centre on 0300 303 1373 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday to book an appointment. 

At your appointment you will be asked to take a photograph of your vaccination card as a record of your first dose.

Please note you will be asked to bring ID and evidence of your University offer with you to your appointment. Photographic/email evidence will be accepted. 


Where will I need to go for my vaccine?

A list of all our venues where you maybe asked to attend for your appointment are listed below, if the time or location on your invite letter is not suitable, please contact our booking centre on 0300 303 1373.
