ERCP

An ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangipancreatography) is a procedure that enables examination of the bile ducts (which drain bile from the gallbladder to the first part of the small bowel known as the duodenum) and sometimes the pancreatic ducts (which drain digestive juices from the pancreas to the duodenum) using a flexible duodenoscope (camera).  Download the ERCP Patient Information Leaflet to find out more about the procedure including indications, alternatives, preparation, the examination, potential risks and post procedural monitoring and advice.  This procedure is performed in either Nevill Hall Hospital (NHH) as an outpatient or The Grange University Hospital (GUH) as an inpatient.
