The Diverse Communities Health Forum has been in existence since January 2020 and has continued to meet at intervals throughout the year, with meetings now taking place on a quarterly basis.
To date, the Health Board's Engagement team have achieved the following:
Organising bespoke community sessions for the Roma Community in Newport in conjunction with Travelling Ahead: Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller Advice & Advocacy Service.
Supporting the organisation Kidcare4u with bespoke sessions for ladies’ groups and attendance at an event in Pill Millennium Centre
Taking part in a Health Event for diverse communities in September 2022 at Community House, Eton Road, in Newport, which saw Health Checks delivered by Muslim Doctors Cymru and a range of services providing information to the 110 people that attended.
Attending the Coleg Gwent ESOL (for learners of English as a second language) Freshers Fair in October 2022
Sharing Help Us Help You Assets in different languages with forum members.
Continually using ‘WhatsApp’ to engage with diverse communities.
Future plans include working with Maindee Primary School in Newport to provide Health Board information to the high composition of families from diverse backgrounds whose children attend the school.
