If your referral is accepted for the Rapid Diagnostic Clinic, we will be in contact with you by telephone to arrange your appointment. This may be at short notice.
Our clinics are held on a Wednesday at the Main Outpatient Department, The Royal Gwent Hospital Newport (see map). You may receive an electronic link to complete a Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA). This helps the clinical team to understand your needs.
Your GP will have arranged for blood tests and a FIT (Faecal Immunochemical Testing) test at point of referral. It is essential that these are completed prior to your attendance.
If you have any questions, or if you do not hear from us within seven days of being referred by your GP you are welcome to ring and speak to a member of our Team.

8:00 – 4:00pm Monday – Friday
Most patients attending the clinic will have a CT scheduled some days prior to the RDC appointment.
Prior to this scan the Radiology Department will insert a cannula and then inject a contrast dye to allow for a clearer picture of your organs for reporting.
Please drink plenty of water before and after the scan.
Radiology - Computed Tomography
A small number of patients will have this scheduled for the same day. If your CT scan is scheduled for the same day as the RDC appointment you will firstly attend the Radiology Department, Floor 3, The Royal Gwent Hospital. Once the scan is complete a member of staff will take you directly to the Main Outpatient Department.
