Monmouthshire is populated by approximately 93,000 people residing across the five key towns of Chepstow and Caldicot in the South, Abergavenny and Monmouth in the North, and Usk which lies within central Monmouthshire. The borough borders England to the East, Newport and Torfaen to the West and Powys to the North.
People come to Monmouthshire to live and to experience its fascinating heritage, culture and spectacular landscapes – all things that make it distinctive. Monmouthshire is the epitome of rurality – small market towns (Abergavenny, Monmouth, Caldicot, Chepstow & Usk) and a rich tapestry of agricultural land dotted with villages.
The natural environment is one of Monmouthshire’s primary assets, from its highest point at Chwarel-y-Fan to the extensive coastal lowlands on the Caldicot Levels.
Monmouthshire has two Neighbourhood Care Networks (NCNs):
The North is supported by 7 GP practices, Nevill Hall Hospital and Mardy Park social care hub in Abergavenny, plus Monnow Vale Health and Social Facility in Monmouth. We have a number of Integrated Health & Social Care hubs embedded within the community towns.
We are a population of approximately 55,000, with around 5,000 residing in England and registered with a Monmouthshire GP due to geographical constraints.
Monmouthshire South Neighbourhood Care Network (NCN) is supported by five GP practices and two Integrated Health and Social Care teams at Chepstow and Caldicot. We are a population of approximately 48,600 living in a semi-rural area with around 6,500 of those residing in England, and registered with a Monmouthshire GP due to geographical constraints.
