Our new Specialist and Critical Care Centre provides a centre of excellence in Gwent to treat our most seriously ill patients, or those with significant injuries, and is the designated trauma unit for Gwent. The hospital has 560 beds (including trollies and cots) and features a 24-hour Acute Assessment Unit, Emergency Department and Helicopter Pad.  It provides a 24/7 Emergency Service for patients that need specialist and critical care.

The hospital opened ahead of schedule on 17th November 2020 to help us respond to winter season pressures and the second wave of Covid-19.
 
 
 

The Grange University Hospital provides care for people who are seriously ill or have complex problems or conditions that cannot be safely managed at one of our Local General Hospitals. The following services are available at The Grange University Hospital:

Getting you the right care
If your health deteriorates whilst you are being treated at one of our Local General Hospitals and you need access to the specialists or critical care provided at The Grange University Hospital, we will transfer you there via our dedicated patient transport service.
