Contraception Service

Emergency contraception (morning after pill) is available free of charge for people of childbearing potential who are aged 13 years or over and have had unprotected sexual intercourse in the past 5 days. The service can also provide a 3-month supply of regular contraception for those who need it. The pharmacy service offers convenient access for patients as no appointment is required.

The service must be provided by an accredited pharmacist and involves a confidential assessment to find out the most appropriate form of emergency contraception. It is recommended that you check with the pharmacy prior to attending that the pharmacist is available. This service is for those aged 13 years old and above with a need for emergency contraception.

To find a pharmacy in your area providing this service, please visit NHS 111 Wales and select ‘provides emergency contraception’ from the filter list on the left-hand side.
