Staying Well

Looking after your health and staying well, even during the Cost-of-Living crisis is really important. Below we have collated some links and resources which may be of use to you if you are worried about your health during this time.

Living Well

  • Live Well Hub was created by the health board and contains guidance, support, and services covering eating well, exercise and keeping fit, stop smoking services, mental wellbeing, immunisations, and more.
  • Stay well over Winter – is a page with information and guidance on looking after yourself in the colder weather, with information on mental wellbeing, advice if you feel unwell, stopping the spread of Winter bugs and illness, keeping your home warm and more.
  • Keeping well before planned treatment or surgery – we have a dedicated page for anyone waiting for treatment or surgery, with tips, guidance and more on a variety of topics.

Stopping smoking

  • Did you know –smoking 20 cigarettes a day costs over £4000 annually. Saving money is just one of the many reasons to stop smoking.
  • Help Me Quit Wales is a free 12-week specialist service, which provides support to people who want to quit smoking using stop smoking medications and weekly support from a dedicated Stop Smoking Advisor.

Alcohol support

  • Did you know, the average spend of UK drinkers over their lifetime is £62,899?
  • Alcohol Change offers support, advice and information for anyone looking to reduce their alcohol intake or who may be worried about their own, or someone else’s drinking.

Dental and Eyesight

  • Find local dentist practices, as well as information on looking after your teeth.
  • Find vision and eyesight information on looking after your eyesight.
  • Community Dental Service - You may be eligible for the Community Dental Service, which offers dental care to vulnerable children and adults from 12 dental clinics across Gwent. Healthier Together

  • Healthier Together is a platform for the whole family, with information and advice for parents, children and families - including pregnant individuals on a range of topics and frequently asked questions.
