Who are the Peer Mentor Development Team?

The Peer Mentor Development Team (PMDT) is an award winning multi-disciplinary team made permanent in January 2021 to continually develop, embed and evaluate Peer Mentor roles within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. In September 2020, the team were proud to be recognised with an APT Award for fostering good mental health in the workplace and more recently the team added another wonderful accolade to their list of achievements by winning the Mental Health Award at the South Wales Health and Care Awards 2022.

The Peer Mentor Development Team is the first team of its type within Wales comprising of lived experience and clinical expertise.

The team consist of a:

  • Peer Mentor Development Lead
  • Peer Mentor Development, Team Lead
  • Peer Mentor Development Workers

The Peer Mentor Development Team are employed to provide innovative and safe governance for peer mentor roles across the Health Board and offer all peer mentors and employing teams support, consultation, and training throughout each phase of recruitment, employment, development and evaluation of the role. The development team also offer consultation to teams divisionally who may be considering developing the role within their service in the future.
