If you are planning a pregnancy, there are several things you need to know and many things you can do to help your pregnancy go as smoothly as possible.
Please visit the NHS Wales site for more information.
You should take a 400 microgram (mcg) folic acid tablet every day while you are trying to get pregnant and until you are 12 weeks pregnant.
Folic acid is important for pregnancy, as it can help prevent birth defects known as neural tube defects, including spina bifida. If you didn't take folic acid before you conceived, you should start as soon as you find out that you are pregnant.
If you think you need an abortion, please call the Beth Clinic on 01443 802776. The telephone lines are now open : Monday , Tuesday Wednesday 8:30am – 3pm then Thursday & Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm. When you ring, you will be given a telephone appointment to speak to a nurse about having an abortion. If you are not sure about this decision, we can also arrange for you to speak to a counsellor.
When we call or message you, we will call ourselves ‘Beth’ because this is anonymous. We will need to have some idea of how many weeks pregnant you are, your height and weight and if you have any medical conditions. You don’t need to be referred by your doctor. If you want to leave a message on the answerphone you can do and someone from the Beth clinic will ring you back saying “it’s Beth calling”.
Please view the following short video to see what happens when you call the BETH service.
