Independent Member - Trade Union

Vivek has been a medical consultant at the Royal Gwent Hospital since 2005. He has held numerous leadership roles in trade union activities and healthcare governance, including Chair of the LNC, Vice Chair of the BMA Welsh Consultants Committee, Chairperson of the health board's Race Equality group, and Regional Advisor for the Royal College of Physicians. His collaborative approach has led to significant initiatives, including pandemic responses and improved working conditions and influencing BMA policy. 

Beyond the NHS, Vivek has served on the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee of the National Museum and was a governing board member and secretary for the India Centre in Cardiff, supporting the local community and promoting cultural activities. His extensive clinical and non-clinical experience makes him a well-rounded independent board member, where he plans to focus on governance, transparency, and equality, while embodying the core values of the NHS.
