What’s involved?
The intervention, led by Home-Start Cymru, is a 6-session programme where families will be offered either group or 1:1 support for various aspects of child development, speech, language & communication, routines, play and more. Families will also be provided with a physical bag of resources to support their journey including:
Feedback given already has been fantastic:
"My two children really enjoy playing with the toys at the group. Since we attended, their speech and language has improved." - Parent, Newport
"My child really liked the bubbles from the resource pack, and he was scribbling with the colouring crayons straight away" - Parent, Torfaen
"Ellise (Support Staff) noticed my child often only sounds out the start of words instead of the full thing. I now make sure to repeat the full words back to him and I've gotten my older kids involved to keep practicing this." - Parent, Caerphilly
"Speaking to Mum, she said her child doesn't usually eat much at home and wouldn't like toast or banana, however, during our group snack time he ate 2 bananas and 2 pieces of toast!" - Becky,Support Staff
From playing and reading together to encouraging independent skills like dressing or using the toilet, it’s all the little things that parents and carers do each day that help their child grow in confidence and independence. Ready to Learn Ready to Grow provides child development support and resources to parents and children to enable them to be ready to start school.
