Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) - The Grange University Hospital

The Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) is situated on Level 1 at the Grange University Hospital and easily accessible via Main Reception. This unit provides same day assessments and treatment; without being admitted into hospital overnight.

Before being asked to attend SDEC you will have been assessed either by your GP or the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) triage nurse. They have decided that potentially your symptoms can be managed without the need of admission into our AMU, Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) or Emergency Department (ED). Opening hours of SDEC are 08:00hs – 20:00hrs.  Please make yourself known to reception or staff and you will be booked in. Due to limited space and the safety, security and dignity of our patients we may need to ask that any person accompanying you waits elsewhere out of the hospital.
