ABUHB Dementia Champions are a network of individuals from all wards and departments, who share a keen interest in improving Dementia Care.
We recognise that having Dementia Champions, who can identify and respond to the individual needs and challenges that their service poses for people with a diagnosis of dementia and their carers, is fundamental to identifying service improvements, sharing best practice and future planning of services.
The Dementia Champion will work with the Patient Experience and Involvement Dementia Team, who ask for your support in disseminating information, asking for your contribution on changes and improvements the team can make to support our patients with Dementia. The Patient Experience and Involvement Dementia Team will provide support, learning resources, training, a forum for discussion and to share good practice.
Our Ffrind i mi Dementia Companion Volunteers provide companionship and support for people living with Dementia in Hospital and Community settings. Whether that be a simple conversation or a game of cards, no interaction is too small, and all visits have an impact.
As a Dementia Companion you will receive Dementia Awareness and Meaningful Engagement training, the opportunity to network with other Dementia Companions, support from the Ffrind i mi and Dementia team, all while providing essential support for somebody living with Dementia.
If you are interested in becoming a Dementia companion volunteer please contact abb.ffrindimi@wales.nhs.uk
