We're delighted to announce that the team at County Community Hospital have been named as finalists in the Nursing Older People category of the Royal College of Nursing Awards for their new intergenerational partnership scheme with a local Primary School.

A new report examining learning and innovative practice that has emerged from across NHS Wales in response to COVID-19 has been released today (23rd June) by Swansea University, on behalf of NHS Wales organisations and partners.

We are pleased to report that, following our Public Engagement on Adult Mental Health Services in our Health Board area, we have carried out an analysis on responses and all comments submitted. 

With the increasing number of cases of the Delta Covid-19 variant across Wales, including the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area, we are reminding people that if they have any symptoms of Covid-19 that they must book a Covid-19 test with the Health Board.

The Health Board was delighted to host a visit from the new Minister for Health and Social Care, Eluned Morgan, this week. The minister visited Newport Velodrome to hear about our post COVID recovery services.

Diabetes Week is here! And this year, we're telling #DiabetesStories from all corners of the UK. We're looking back on an extraordinary year and looking forward to what’s to come, and, above all celebrating the incredible diabetes community.

We will be holding walk-in vaccination clinics in the Newport and Ebbw Vale areas on Saturday 26th June.

The Health Board has recently witnessed an increase in patients receiving visitors outside in the hospital grounds.

Tuesday 15th June marks International Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert is working with partners to help professionals working in communities recognise the signs and behaviours of elder abuse.

We have carefully considered our approach to Hospital Visiting and following a pilot in Nevill Hall Hospital, we have now extended visiting to more hospitals including The Grange University Hospital, Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, The Royal Gwent Hospital and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, together with continued visiting at Nevill Hall Hospital.

A key priority this year has been the identifying and supporting carers through primary care health services. With the lockdown restrictions this has meant thinking more strategically about how we best provide responsive support.

Last week, Surgeons and Theatre staff at the Royal Gwent Hospital were fortunate to have the opportunity to test-drive a state-of-the-art Operative Robot.
