HIV Testing Week 14th - 21st May 2021

14th May 2021

Spring HIV Testing week is from 14th - 21st May 2021. This campaign organised by Fast Track Cities Cardiff encourages partner organisations in community, health care and policy institutions throughout Wales to unite to increase testing efforts and promote awareness of the benefits of earlier hepatitis and HIV testing.

Why is HIV Testing Needed?

Anyone can get HIV. It isn’t limited to any one sexuality, race, religion or gender. We all have a responsibility if we have been sexually active to get tested and know our status. We know that Wales has a much higher prevalence of late HIV diagnoses than much of the UK. Late diagnosis can unfortunately leave lasting damage to your health and increases the risk of transmitting HIV to others as a result of not knowing your status. With treatment, HIV is now fully treatable and people can live well with a normal life expectancy.

How to Test?

Any healthcare professional can perform a HIV test in any healthcare setting. Otherwise you can request a free postal testing kit to your home via www.friskywales.org
