Professor Claire Anderson, President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, paid a visit to The Grange University Hospital’s Pharmacy Team on Friday 18th October.
The visit provided Professor Anderson with an opportunity to learn more about how Pharmacy work alongside other departments within the hospital to be an integral part of an effective multi-disciplinary team. Visits were made to the Emergency Department, Gastroenterology ward, and ITU.
Jonathan Simms, Clinical Director of Pharmacy said,
“Enabling pharmacy professionals to practise in areas where they can add most value is a priority. Integration of pharmacy staff into wider multiprofessional teams not only improves job satisfaction, but ensures improved patient safety, a reduction in medication related harm and improves patient flow”.
We have made a continuing investment in empowering and valuing our staff to cultivate an environment that leads to success. It has been a great opportunity to showcase examples of multi-disciplinary working and also to receive feedback from other clinicians on how they value the essential contribution of the Pharmacy Team.”
Recently The Grange Pharmacy Team were awarded Pharmacy Team of the Year 2023. This recognition, alongside another nomination from the Royal Gwent Pharmacy Team at the recent Welsh Pharmacy Awards, is a testament to their dedication, expertise, and impact on patient care.
