Aneurin Bevan University Health Board win Covid-19 Heroes – Best Health Board Supporting Care Homes Award

We are delighted to announce that on Friday 21st October at the Care Forum Wales Awards, the Covid-19 Heroes – Best Health Board Supporting Care Homes Award was awarded to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

This was very proud moment and genuinely humbling to receive this recognition from the care home sector and reflects the expertise, skills, courage and compassion shown by so many colleagues across the organisation who worked so hard to keep care home residents and staff protected.

Angela Powell, Clinic Controller, Mobile Covid Vaccination Team said, "The mobile vaccination team went out to all care home and vaccinated care home residents and care home staff with the Covid vaccines throughout the pandemic.  We visited all 95 care homes at least twice for each dose that was administered. The homes would be contacted each day by the team, it was a very emotional time for everybody and on many occasions the care home managers would be crying with relief that were we coming in to vaccinate their residents and staff.

We worked closely with our colleagues in the Health Board and Local Authority to ensure that the residents were vaccinated at the earliest opportunity. The team was made up of Registered Nurses, Pharmacist, Podiatrists and other Health Professionals and our Dental team support staff. Everybody in the team was committed to getting our most vulnerable residents vaccinated and protected against getting Covid.

I can honestly say that this has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had and I am so proud of all the people I have worked with throughout the vaccination programme.”

Congratulations to all staff involved for this wonderful recognition of your hard work.
