Celebrating Healthcare Support Worker Day!

Thursday 23rd November 2023

Healthcare Support Workers play a vital role in providing excellent care to patients across all NHS care settings. To celebrate Healthcare Support Worker Day, we asked some of our Healthcare Support Workers what they love about their role.

Why do you love being a Healthcare Support Worker?

I love being a Healthcare Support Worker as it has given me pride and purpose providing high quality care and compassion each and every day. It has been the most rewarding varied job and my experience and knowledge has made a difference to the NHS. I sincerely hope I have positively helped the lives of server users and their families as well as being of benefit to my work colleagues assisting them and show guidance in the workplace.

Being a Healthcare Support Worker has been the best experience and having worked in the established for 42 years speaks for itself. Thank you NHS for the best year!

Christina

Where do you work?

Care at Home Team, Complex Care.

How long have you worked from the Health Board?

14 months.

Why do you love being a Healthcare Support Worker?

I love being a Healthcare Support Worker because it has been an exciting new challenge. I have worked in the Care at Home Team for 14 months as an Assistance Practitioner at Band 4. It was a big career change for me but after my father received care at home, I knew it was something I wanted to go into eventually.

I see and understand the importance of being at home and feel privileged to be able to provide that care.
