GP Practice Roles

To help provide more accessibility and specialised healthcare services within GP Practices, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board are promoting the different healthcare professionals and services available to patients which may be better suited to address specific concerns.

GP Brian Harries has filmed an insightful introduction video highlighting the advantages of having a diverse team of healthcare professionals working collaboratively within a GP Practice. The video aims to educate patients about the range of services available beyond traditional GP consultations.

We have also rolled out a series of video profiles showcasing different healthcare professionals and services. These profiles offer a glimpse into the expertise and roles of various professionals without needing to see the GP, these include:

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  • Practice Nurse
  • Physician’s Associate
  • Practice Paramedic
  • Psychological Health Practitioner (PHP)
  • Health Care Support Worker, Primary Care

As a Health Board we encourage and empower patients to make informed choices about their healthcare journey. We encourage patients to explore the alternative healthcare options available to them and understand that seeing a GP may not always be the only or best option. Our aim is to ensure patients receive the most appropriate and effective care for their needs.
