Important Update on Industrial Strike Action - 21st, 22nd & 23rd February

Junior doctors across NHS Wales are taking industrial action between 7am on Wednesday 21 February 2024 and 7am on Saturday 24 February 2024. 

Patients with a pre-booked appointment or procedure in one of our hospitals during the strike period will be contacted directly by our booking team if their appointment is affected. Patients who are not contacted are advised to attend any booked appointments as normal.

Our services across the Health Board will be under significant pressure during this time. We are doing everything we can to minimise the disruption of the industrial action on our patients and have plans in place to cover junior doctor shifts, but staffing difficulties will inevitably impact our services.

We need to ask for the support of our local communities in only attending The Grange University Hospital if it is life threatening, or if they have a very serious injury. We would urge anyone in need of medical help to think carefully about the services they choose, and to refer to the Gwent Health Guide or call 111 if unsure where to go for help.
