It's Never Too Early or Too Late to Start Looking After your Bones

Recently, the Fracture Liaison Service Conference was held, where Consultant Geriatrician for Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, Dr Inder Singh, delivered a presentation on the work that's underway in the Health Board to improve bone health.

Having identified the rising incidence of hip fractures in Gwent and their significant associated costs for the NHS, Dr Singh has led several initiatives since 2020 to improve bone health and Orthogeriatric care in the area. This has included integrating and strengthening partnerships across Rheumatology, Radiology and Orthogeriatric teams to streamline processes and identify fragility fractures in those aged above 50 years.

The Health Board is committed to further improving on this work over the coming years.
