Team County Named as Finalists for Royal College of Nursing Award

Thursday 24th June 2021

We're delighted to announce that the team at County Community Hospital have been named as finalists in the Nursing Older People category of the Royal College of Nursing Awards for their new intergenerational partnership scheme with a local Primary School.

Developed during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the new 'Smile in a Bag' scheme offers an alternative way of interaction between Care of the Elderly patients and local school children.

The scheme is mutually beneficial for both patients and children, as both generations are able to use their creative skills to produce items and resources for the opposite age group.

We caught up with Senior Nurse, Jo Hook, when the programme was first developed- here she is explaining how the partnership works..

Wishing the team the best of luck for the awards ceremony later this year, when the winners will be announced!
