Thank You to the Public of Gwent

Thursday 30th April 2020

We’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the public of Gwent for showing their appreciation of NHS and other healthcare staff every Thursday evening.

Tonight, the Health Board will be turning three of our hospitals blue to remember those who have lost their lives due to Covid-19. Between 9:00pm and 9:30pm the Royal Gwent, Nevill Hall and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr hospital buildings will be lit up with blue lighting, followed by a rainbow effect to thank staff and keyworkers. Live footage will be shown on the Health Board’s social media accounts from 9:15pm.

Gwent Police and other public sector partners will not be present at our hospital sites at 8:00pm as they will be showing their recognition from their own premises, so please look online to view posts of appreciation from our partners. We will also share these through the Health Board’s social media accounts. We would like to thank them for their support over the last few weeks, visiting our hospital sites to recognise our staff.

Please remember to follow the government guidelines when you take part in the ‘Clap for Carers’ – maintain social distancing and clap from your doorstep and we strongly advise against anyone travelling to our hospital sites on a Thursday evening, unless you are attending for a medical reason.

Thank you for your understanding and for playing your part in stopping the spread of Coronavirus – stay home, protect our NHS, save lives!
