In this heart-warming video, filmed by one of our very own Intensive Care Consultants, Dr Nick Mason, former Covid-19 patients, who received treatment in the Health Board's Intensive Care Unit, express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff who cared for them throughout their hospitalisation.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is supporting the National Cycle to Work Day which returns on Thursday 6th August with a twist.

We are currently going through unprecedented times and we need to ensure that we have blood and platelet products to treat patients in need.

From 30 July, people who have tested positive for coronavirus will have to self-isolate for 10 days instead of 7 days. The 10 day period starts from the day symptoms start, or if asymptomatic from the day a test is taken.  As before a test should be arranged within 5 days of symptoms starting. This will also apply to health and social care workers.

NHS Wales have launched three new self-management Apps for healthcare professionals and patients who suffer from Asthma and COPD.

The Health Board has always supported the annual PRIDE March through the streets of Cardiff to show our support for our LGBT+ community and staff, but as this year this isn’t possible due to the Pandemic we wanted to let you know that our PRIDE celebrations will be moving online.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has established a new service to help COVID-19 patients who had been ventilated in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Respiratory High Dependency Unit (HDU).

The Royal Gwent Hospital’s Respiratory Team set up this unique collaborative Rehabilitation Programme to support and aid the recovery of formerly ventilated COVID-19 patients post discharge.

This week (1st – 5th June) we celebrate Dietitians Week. This is our annual celebration of dietitians, dietetics and those that work to support them.

In response to the Welsh Government’s Test, Trace, Protect strategy, partners including Public Health Wales, the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and the five Local Authorities in Gwent have joined forces to start contact tracing in Gwent and the service will go live on Monday June 1.

1st June- 5th June 2020 is Volunteers’ Week. Throughout the week we’ll be celebrating all the amazing volunteers that have helped us get through the last few months.

We would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to show their appreciation for our staff and for all key workers over the past ten weeks by clapping and cheering every Thursday evening.

The second phase will be on Monday June 8th at 13:00 and will migrate calls inbound to the Royal Gwent.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our 600th patient has recovered from Coronavirus! This means that 600 of our Coronavirus patients have now become well enough to leave our Hospitals in Gwent and go home to their families.

Wales will play a vital role in finding a way out of the coronavirus pandemic when the next phase of a UK-led study is announced Friday May 22^nd.

On Tuesday 12th May we marked International Nurses Day, where we celebrated our amazing Nurses and all the invaluable work that they do.

A powerful new documentary filmed by the medical team working at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport will broadcast on BBC One Wales on Monday 11th May at 9:00pm.

We are completely overwhelmed and extremely grateful to our communities and partner organisations for the wonderful, wide ranging donations we have received so far throughout this pandemic. This video shows how these donations are already being put to great use..

The first Coronavirus patient to be admitted to the Royal Gwent Hospital's Intensive Care Unit has been discharged home.

We’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the public of Gwent for showing their appreciation of NHS and other healthcare staff every Thursday evening.

This advice is for general wards and excludes areas where patients are receiving intensive care and treatment.

There are now 384 extra beds available and ready for patients, should they be needed during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Contractors building the new Grange University Hospital at Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran, handed over a number of finished ward areas today (Monday 27th April) – months ahead of schedule.
